This case study explores how we partnered with Based Elliot to develop their character into a distinct visual identity while building a custom AI ecosystem that scales their culture, memes, and community.

This case inspired us to launch our new Memecoin Startup Program, the venture arm of Alphakek AI that incubates small but promising, high-upside projects with the best AI tech—not just memes, but an entire AI ecosystem of B2C tools and B2B public goods for attracting builders.

Phase 1: Character Design

Moving Beyond a Derivative Character

Given Based Elliot donned a crown, Alphakek AI encouraged the team to evolve from the Brett theme to different inspirations like King Arthur or King Midas. After discussions, they proposed a "king" Elliot with royal themes, golden elements, and DBZ-style ears.

Developing a High-Quality Dataset

A crucial step in training the AI model was establishing a clean, high-quality dataset. Alphakek AI recommended a 15-pose character sheet, including standard turnaround and dynamic action poses. The team also guided Based Elliot in defining Elliot’s signature features and artistic style, ensuring the AI-generated outputs remained consistent yet flexible.

Phase 2: AI Model Training

Flexible AI Output: Finding the Right Balance

Unlike most projects that want strict consistency in AI-generated images, Based Elliot preferred a more fluid approach—allowing Elliot to transform into different pop culture characters, e.g. Elliot as Elon, James Bond, Goku, etc.

This required adjusting AI parameters to favor higher variation ("temperature") while maintaining character identity. Other technical challenges included:

Managing Realism vs. Stylization: Initially, our model generated overly realistic details, e.g. nipples that looked too lifelike.
Experimental Enhancements: Alphakek AI implemented our new Prompt Enhancer that expands short user prompts improving quality and accuracy.
Multi-Model Blending: A hybrid approach combining different AI models was used to fine-tune Elliot’s character consistency while preserving flexibility.

Phase 3: Community Integration

Scaling Content Creation

The next step was deploying an AI meme generator in the Based Elliot Telegram community. The bot enabled users to create custom Elliot memes in seconds without requiring advanced design skills, significantly boosting engagement.
