Developing Criminalio AI

How AI disrupts NFT art generation.

Our friendship with 0xFuxi began with the Niqady Maker NFT collection, where we served as AI developers and handled art generation. The massive success of Niqady Maker laid the foundation for pushing the boundaries of NFT art.

So when he approached us to create the gang-ass collection known as Criminalio, we knew we had an opportunity to take things to a new level. This time, he wanted to honor the legacy of the Redacted Remilio Babies while standing out as a bold interpretation within the same universe.

Our goal was clear—modernize how NFTs were created by leveraging the most cutting-edge AI tech, our 7+ years in the AI trenches, and all we had learned from creating generative art for Web2 tech companies.

Traditional NFT Challenges

In traditional NFT collections, individual traits must be designed and merged programmatically. While no two NFTs are identical, the traits themselves are often repeated across the collection, losing a sense of individuality and uniqueness.

This approach creates a limitation—traits, while combined differently, still lack the uniqueness that collectors crave. Our approach with 0xFuxi’s Criminalio was radically different.

We sought to take his artwork and scale it using our advanced AI image models, ensuring that no trait was identical across the entire collection. This meant every image in the collection would be truly unique, while still retaining cohesive trait groupings and metadata.

Criminalio could be described as a collection of 3,333 one-of-ones. Every Criminalio is effectively a 1:1, while keeping traditional trait groupings and rarities.

The result was a collection where each NFT felt like a standalone piece of art, contributing to a deeper connection between the collector and the artwork.

The Role of Remilio AI

To achieve this level of uniqueness, we built upon our Remilio AI—a model we previously developed as part of the Remilia Corporation universe. Remilio AI laid the groundwork for the innovation we brought to Criminalio and was essential in bringing the collection to life.

If you’re interested in Remilio AI, you can use it in our Telegram and read about it in an upcoming blog post.

Our NFT Infrastructure

While working on Criminalio, we developed NFT Image Generation, a new service (and soon-to-be product) that was key in transforming 0xFuxi’s vision into reality. It includes:

  1. Co-developing Custom Characters: Collaborating closely with creators to design unique characters.
  2. Training Uncensored Models: Our models generate high-quality art without the typical restrictions.
  3. Combining Generated and Bespoke Traits: Merging AI-generated traits with custom-designed elements for a truly unique collection.
  4. Batch Generator: With batch generation, you can produce a variety of images at once, allowing you to select the best ones for your collection.
  5. LaunchMyNFT-Ready Metadata: Ensuring all metadata is prepared for a seamless launch.

The generator allowed us to produce high-quality, unique NFTs at scale, faster than traditional methods. Every character in Criminalio was distinct, with no two traits being identical across the entire collection.

Impact

The new tech culminated in the successful launch of Criminalio, which sold out within an hour after the public sale opened. For those who missed out, there’s still a chance to pick up a Criminalio on the secondary market. And if you’re an NFT creator looking to push the boundaries of what’s possible, get in touch.
